Elect Brianna Harmon for Mount Pleasant Town Council March 25, 2025

Key Issues

Vote Brianna Harmon

North Mount Pleasant Representation

We currently have no representative on town council residing in North Mount Pleasant. We need to have someone on council who understands our day to day needs living in this growing area.

Traffic Mitigation and Safety

With our rapid growth and development, the town has not been able to keep up with road safety and traffic infrastructure. We have a concerning amount of traffic accidents and fatalities in our relatively small area each year. We need to put public safety first and protect our residents by fixing dangerous roadways and intersections.

Fresh Perspective

“The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”-Rita Mae Brown.

In order to make changes in the operations of our town, we need to make changes to who we elect to represent us. I am not a politician. I have lived here long enough to understand how the rapid growth is affecting our quality of life. I want our town to be a safer, happier and more beautiful community for all residents, pets and wildlife.

Rec. Department Expansion

Being that this Mount Pleasant a very family-oriented community, we need to add more options to our current Recreation Department. Popular sports fill up the first day of registration. The town could also offer more activities targeting our teens and young adults. We also need to deliver the long-awaited senior center on the north end of town. We are missing out on significant potential revenue by not being able to provide recreation activities to all of our residents.

Poor Planning = Wasteful Spending

Hasty construction approvals and insufficient impact studies not only affect the public’s health and wellness but also cost the town millions of dollars in mitigating damage control. Flood, traffic, safety, etc. needs to be thoughtfully studied and consider prior to large scale development approvals and large-scale commercial businesses.

Too Much Focus on Economic Development

Many residents choose Mount Pleasant to raise families. We have some of the highest rated schools in the state and sell the idyllic lifestyle to raise children in clean, safe neighborhoods, riding bikes and enjoying time outdoors. Our beautiful weather allows us to do almost any outdoor activity year-round. The Town’s current plan to continue to increase Economic Development in Mount Pleasant is hurting residents. The town has lost the vision of why people live here. It is NOT more traffic congestion. Drive times that make it unappealing for us (especially on the North end) to visit world class historic downtown Charleston, our local beaches and even restaurants and retail on the south end. We have plenty of commercial clusters already that could be repurposed.
